2001 stock h22a4: what type of gas does it need?
Just doing a presale research here. I'm considering about buying a 2001 prelude.
does it really need 91 octane? can i put anything below?
i'm sure its a stupid question to some of you but im not as educated so please inform.

yes, you need premium fuel, welcome to high compression ratio engines. Anything below will cause the ECU to retard timing and cause power loss, and possible detonation
the difference in cost per fill up is less than 5 dollars, so the added cost is not all that great. And you will be much happier with an H22 that an F22 (I just swapped from one). If you can keep your foot out of it, the mileage should be similar too.

thats gonna be tough, i just switched over to the prelude from a 97 CL (f22b), the extra power is amazing.
in short, you gotta pay to play.
