96-98 Keyless Remote = 99-00 Keyless Remote ?

96-98 Keyless Remote = 99-00 Keyless Remote ?
As the title says, are the remotes identical? Looking on ebay to get an extra one and program it for my '99, but am unsure if both send identical signals, etc. I know the alarm's are supposedly run differently on 96-98 than on 99-00.
