You wont be able to get 2" without getting a coilover setup or intrax springs. The hard part will be finding reliable shocks that can handle that kind of a drop. A trick would be to extend the top hats to get more shock travel and you'd be able to rock the cheaper brands. There should not be a problem with a 2" drop on the AWD crv. But dont drop beyond that.

I run Intrax springs with Koni Sport Shocks, the Koni rear shock will lift the rear .75 inches which levels the CRV out from its natural sag, and then the intrax springs lowered mine just about 2 inches. Rides is great and handling is awesome. If you just do the lower springs it will still have the sag.

Skunk2 makes coilover sleeves for it and I'm sure there's all kinds of struts available to go with them.

Being AWD doesn't make much difference as far as lowering it as long as you get it aligned afterward and it's not so low that the driveshaft angles are dangerous. I have a 99 AWD CRV and hope fully soon it's going to get lowered also.

ive got mine lowered on the skunk2 coilovers with koni yellow shocks all around. its a great setup ive had it slammed as low as it will go and didnt have any problems. i also have it on gram lights 57s 18x7.5 +48 with ingalls front upper adjustable arms and only minor rub(on full drop about .5 to .75 in. up no rub). ive sence raised it a bit so it doesnt rub and because its winter. but i would recomend the crv its a great car.

the front isnt as low as the rear in this pic but it gives you an idea of what it will look like
