i need to find someone(in florida hopefully) who can wire my project for me. im dissabled and cant do anything myself. i need to wire a jdm automatic transmission to my usdm 5speed gsr. i need to convert from manual to auto. and have no clue how 2 wire it up? ive been told ill need the jdm ecu,auto tranny, and a tcm(whats tcm?) i have no idea how to hook all this together. a few people have told me its impossibal, so i dont need to hear that anymore. i know someone can help. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.

You are not using common sense...try getting some of that...why would you turn a 5 speed car into an automatic, when a decent 5 speed is worth much more than even a perfect auto. Sell the 5 speed car, and go buy a nice automatic if thats what you want.

Actually...I work as a science teacher full time and run my own shop on the side(bad assumptions on your part). I know they never made an auto gsr in the states, and I've owned (and purchased myself) more honda/acura cars in the last month then you have in your entire life. I don't need bank loans, as I have worked since I was 10 to get to the point where I can pay for everything up front. I am sorry about your disability, whatever that may be. I am also glad you are loyal to your car...but just so you know, what you have ahead of you is a daunting task to even the best honda/acura tuners, mostly because it is almost unheard of for people to change 5 speed cars to auto. It definitely can be done, but what I was trying to say is that after you spent the amount of money you will spend to do this, you could have just taken an automatic ls chassis and put your swap in it and customize that in whatever way you would want. That would leave you with only having to wire in VTEC, and not putting in all of the other items required when swtiching to an automatic (pedals, shifting mechanism, auto control unit, etc.) I am sorry for your situation, but as you can see by the lack of posts, this is a very labor intensive, as well as a costly $$ project (if you are not doing it yourself). I am guessing that their are shops that will do this for you especially in Florida, but again it will probably cost more than you could/should spend. Good luck with your project.

Also, I was not aware that you were disabled when I laughed at your first post, because I thought you just mispelled the word disassembled. I promise I was not making light of the fact that you are disabled.

 

i figured u would respond to my last post. i was getting pretty irritated with your posts, and responded as such. i was on my way to being in a similar situation as yourself when i had a serious accident, and i did take your posts as making fun of me. if that was not your intention i am sorry for my outburst.

i know i have a huge task in front of me, and i dont know everything there is to know, but im limited on options. i dont see how it would be any easier to turn an usdm auto into a gsr?.? im under the impression that a usdm auto tranny will not operate a b18c vtec properly. im under the impression that when vtec kicks in the tranny,not made 4 vtec, will want to downshift thus rendering vtec useless.. this is what i have been told by a number of people, IS THIS INACCURATE??

 

Well I guess what I was getting at is that if you purchased an auto ls at least you won't have to remove your pedals, and remove/install all types of other silly things to make your car work properly. If you decided to buy an ls auto, you would just have to replace the ls auto ecu with the JDM gsr auto ecu, and repin your ecu harness (the harness that bolts to the firewall and enters the engine bay on both sides through the firewall) with the wires to support the vtec system of the B18C1. Of course the B18C1 would need the proper harness, and because we never got an auto gsr here...you could either have Hasport make you one ($$$) or you could use the ls auto harness, and just wire vtec directly from the back of the ecu plugs to the vtec solenoid, and of course a ground. I will research some more and see if I can come up with any other ideas.

for a number of reasons id really like to keep my usdm gsr chaise. i wouldnt think the foot pedals need to be changed, the brake still operates bakes, the accel. pedal still operates the accel., and i kinda need the spare space down there for foot operated turn signals, f.o. headlights, and f.o. wipers. i figured i could just remove my clutch pedal.. DO YOU SEE ANY FLAWS IN THIS LOGIC? so the only interior changes that need 2b made are the shifter and center console. ive been told that an auto tranny requires a tcm. others have said they do not.. you have any light on that subject?

 

I am going to say that in order to get the shift points correct you would need a JDM GSR auto tranny, and tcm. Again, I do not know of anyone with much knowledge in 5 speed to auto conversions. Have you searched HT?

i have serched honda tech, i cant find any helpful info really. most people (like myself prior to my accident) wont consider going 5speed to auto. there really does not seem to be much info on the subject. in fact i have not found ANYBODY who can say they have done it, found people who say they have seen one, or knew someone who had one once, but no one who has done it. at one point i found a guy in tampa who said he could wire it for like $400, but my computer crashed and i lost his number. i cant find it again, but im still trying...
