Default HFP lip kit installed. Extremely disappointed!

hey,

is it just me or is this how it's supposed to be? Just got it installed today and my girlfriend is extremely disappointed. First of all, the color(white) isn't even close to being the same.and behind the rear wheel wells, it doesn't line up at all. Then I have some gaps around the front. Is this how they are? Should I take it back? What's the deal?

Thanks

The color is off probably due to fading of your car, people things they can apply a brand new painted HFP kit to an 06 and have it matched... if it is a BRAND NEW CIVIC, keep in mind that any color will not be a direct match AND that the angle that the HFP kit sits vs the car are different... with my prior Fiji blue some angles the kit was purple and the fender was blue.

As for the rear well not lining up that is due to you not adjusting the template correctly, i've installed 3 kits and all sat flush.

The FRONT gaps.... again are your error. If the areas are properly cleaned and holes drilled in EXACTLY the right spots you will have gaps, remove it and try again.

now if the DEALER installed it....

you just got a lazy tech

this was dealer installed. This is also on a 2007 that only had 30 miles on it. The paint can not possibly have faded that quickly you think? I'm going to get some pictures in a little bit. And it is just plain nasty right now. I don't even know what to say. Speechless.

im sure they will try to come up with an excuse

BUT here are some tips.

Keep mentioning how displeased you are with the car/fitment/service to this point

Repeat how you will leave the dealership BAD reviews on the phone survey you'll be getting in the coming days.

Ask the manager for his card & the 1800 customer service number

Stand your ground.

You should leave pleased.

Take it from me, yes it can. Its been sitting on a lot for months. Do a detail and wash/ clay bar/ wash again/ polish/ then a good wax. You will see the difference.

I think you're being overly picky, sorry. The color match is never going to be 100% exact. That's why when you get something repainted on your car, they usually have to repaint other parts that weren't even damaged to make it 'blend'. Since it's just a lip kit, obviously they aren't going to be doing paint blending.

As for the gaps, I see your point there. Take it back and have them re-do it. There shouldn't be gaps like that between the kit and car.

color match looks good to me , as for the gaps, i think they messed up the double sided tape and it stuck before it was mounted properly.

it may sound like we are overly picky about the color but you have to see it in person. It is a eyesore. We didn't pay $1500 to make our car look worse. We understand it may not be an exact match but it has to be somewhat close. It's really not in person.

Sorry to hear about this issue. I installed my own kit and got terrific results. I, however, only had to install 1 kit and took the better part of a Sat and followed the instructions from Honda to the letter. A tech that is trying to rip through your kit, do 10 oil changes, talk to the other guys in the garage, etc., is not going to give your car the attention that it needs for this kit to line up perfectly. I took forever to line up the side skirts, especially, since the main support holding them on is 3M double stick tape/foam. As for the color, listen to the guy w/ the white car. I used a clay bar on my wife's white Mercedes and it brought the paint right back to life.

I dont have any gaps on mine. My paint matches excellent.

I have this piece of weatherstripping on mine that goes on top of the lips to seal it too, and I dont see that on yours. This should be warranted because it is dealer installed. Bring it back!

Just bought an '08 Si last Thursday. In the 9 miles the dealer had my car, they managed to curb up my driver's side rim, bad fitment on my driver sideskirt and rear lip, and forgot to put the DOHC i-VTEC decals on the side. Needless to say, I went back and talked to a manager. Hopefully getting this all fixed when I'm back in town on Friday.

^ The original decals are under the new side skirts and the kits do not come with new replacements.

The fitment on that kit is kinda ehhh.....I'm sure they'll take care of you, but dont be surprised if they need to order a new kit to install it the right way.

Also when I purchased my gf's front lip for her 06 Ex it wasnt 100% perfect. The newer kits I've seen have black plastic shims to make a perfectly tight fit, and I had to use some I had leftover for hers.

Then Honda's website is misleading because they show the decals on the side skirt with the kit, so I'll still be able to get them. There's no excuse for the kit not fitting right especially when they have one on the showroom floor that fits right.

Edit: According to College Hills the Si aero kit includes the decals.

thought I would give you guys an update. We were calling the dealership like crazy on Thursday. The sales managers schedule a time for us to go in yesterday. The sales manager, sales guy, and a technician look at it and agreed that everything we were concerned about were an issue. So, the sales manager said he would go ahead and order a new kit to see if it will match and lineup better. They were nice about it and everything so hopefully everything works out.

Wat?

You are lucky, most people would have had to fight tooth and nail to get the service you are getting.

I had my HFP kit installed by the dealer I purchased the car from and when I came to pick up the car the portion of the side skirts tha comes up behind the doors was hanging off and it was clear the adhesive had not stcuk to the car properly. I simply refused to take the car as it was and they fixed it and I made a point to have them note that I was unhappy with the installation of the HFP kit upon delivery of the car and they made sure to fix it and tell me if I had anymore problems with it to just bring it back in.

Well go figure 7 months have gone by and I have about 13k mile son the car and the same thing is happening. I am bringing the car in for its scheduled oil change in a couple weeks probably and they will definitely be attending to it.

As far as your car goes, I wouldn't be happy with two things, the fitment of the sideskirts, which can be fixed. But more importantly the rust spots, that is unacceptable on a new car.

As for the color I can;t see it in the pics and can underatnd it may stand out more in person but the bottom line it it will never be dead perfect and its the difference between paint on metal and paint on a non-metal add-on.
