Every time I shift into second and sometimes into third, I hear this screech as if I was burning the tires, you know as if I had taken off hard and burned some rubber. I suspect I have a bad release bearing in the tranny. Any other ideas?
It is a D16Y7 bone stock.

 

I replaced the water pump last month when I changed the timing belt. The noise was there before and after I replaced it.

 

maybe your civic is burning the tires in third .....your synchronizer for third gear might be ready to take a ****

 

hmmmm, so far shifting is smooth. I changed the tranny fluid 2 weeks ago and did not see metal shavings or anything come out. Well if the tranny dies I will get another tranny with a better final drive than the DX tranny, EX maybe.
