My old wagon was doing this, but it was from oil getting on the plugs and them not getting good spark. It would mostly do it to me between 1st to 2nd shifts and on acceleration.

How do your plugs look when you removed them?

What's the shape of your injectors? When I could get my HB running it was doing the same thing too but spark plugs were clean...seafoam seemed to have helped quite a bit running it through the tank and the intake....just an idea

Also service your throttle body and induction system... Use throttle body cleaner and sea-foam for the induction system. Works wonders

I had similar problems, but had misfire after warm up.

Here are some of the things I looked at

dizzy
timing
spark plugs
compression test
clean grounds
checked injectors
vacuum leaks
pcv
codes

coolant, ding ding ding
blown head gasket FTL, hope this is not the case for you.

Good luck.
