What is the BEST Paint Gun?!
I'm about to paint my car
I need suggestions on what guns are good for the price.
I am going to spray primer and single stage shopline ppg.
Please let me know if you have one for sell or what kind I should use!

how much did it cost and what model did you get?</TD></TR></TABLE>
SATA's are expensive, if you are just starting out and are not going to use them much, I wouldn't get one, they run like $500-$600 a piece. Paint guns are mainly personal preference. I would look into Devilbiss' lower end line called "Startingline" http://www.eastwoodco.com/shop...15988. You can get 2 guns for $148, one for primer and one for base, then look into a nice clear gun.

no comment on starting line, you'll better off with something slightly better.
here some good hvlp budget gun:
astro evo(lvlp)
finex sharpe
devilbiss finish line
finex sprays great for about 100 a pop, make sure you know the difference between primer and bc/cc gun.
i think the staring line packs a gun with way too small tip

Ok, so what are the major differences between the Finishline and the Startingline guns? Startingline not made as nice? and they both seem to come with the same size tips, 1.3, 1.5, and 1.8, just curious is all.

well, i use the finish line and i can't imagine using anything lower than that to spray.
i am not expert but it doesn't feel all that good to paint with, esp when you used something like sata before.
couple of friend used starting line because they have it in a set(which sounds good if you dont know what you want), they end up selling it to kids and moved on to better guns.

Well yeah, I'm saying to buy it as a starter kit. I don't see the point in going out and blowing $550 on 1 SATA if it's not going to be used religiously. I bought a SATA RP as my first gun, but I was in the field and used it everyday (for clear), and used a cheap gun for base and primer.

oh of course, i think they piece them together for hobby/paint for fun people than anyone else.
you are right, sata for weekend paint is a waste(which i connect to
) but they are great gun never the less, they will hold certain value and quality. it just that i see too much people started out cheap and ends up bring everything twice.
it's true for compressor, gun, paint, etc.
it's all comes down to how much it cost and how much you can make out of it.

man you can find sata 2000 on ebay all day long for like $2-300 in great shape... well worth the money! same for the devibliss gti and those rock for base! its goes just as hard as the sat on base... never used it on clear though
get the finishline with 3 tips for only $130. it works well enough for me. ive painted a few cars here and there. use it for primer too. i have no idea how much better expensive guns are because ive never used one. how much better does these expensive guns really shoot? lmk thanks
first off i have to say i agree with the single stage being not the greatest idea, ecspecially if its the lower line product like onni or nason, when it comes to S.S. its better to spend a little more money, as far as the gun choices go, i have 5 or 6 guns, ranging from a 600.00 accuspray to a 400 sharp, to one of my mostly used guns, lol your normal no name 100 to 130 dollar hvlp top feed gun found i'm sure at just about any local parts store, i use one primers and sealers just like WihaSi says and i actually spray most of my cars as well with one, know i have a production shop we do a lot of insurance jobs as well as the custom full paints, i spray mostly base clear, and here is the deal, i sprayed a lot of omni clear years ago which is the cheaper line of ppg, its good stuff and cheap, i have alsop sprayed and still spray nason clear which is the cheaper production clear from dupont, this stuff is great in my opinion as well, you can buy a gallon set up, clear and activator (hardner) for probably 130 bucks depending on where you live and acsess to it and i'm betting the omni is about the same price, the base coat depending on what color and how much is going to vary, reds being the most expensive, well i've written you a book on paintring but feel free to ask any questions
i'm out,lol
i'm out,lol

most of the time people shoot single stage now a day to reduce cost(at least now, the post day of enamel paint), but there's always exception to the rules, solid black is great to shoot with single stage. don't ask me why but that's what i hear. most of the single day cheapo paint job is SS.
the best way to know about the paint line is to ask around in your locate jobber, omni, deltron would be name you'll heard from time to time becasue of the lower cost.
omni is half decent, but don't try to colour match anything if you haven't paint before.

you guys want to laugh, if any of you guys checked out the crx in the spray booth shots on the myspace page, well that is sprayed with the nason 497-00 multi panel overall clear, yep thats right, nason clear is the **** you guys, i've been spraying it for 4 years now and the stuff is just incredible, blows omni and the rest outa the water, but hey thats just me, now don't get me wrong on my clients higher end jobs i will use clear from hot hues and the chroma line but why when the clear looks that good, its only 3 coats my friends, boyaa
sorry guys,lol
ok so what i'm getting at kelviiv is this, if its your first time really spraying a car honestly chances are your going to have a few spots or errors in prep or spraying, lol what i'm getting at is this your going to waste a lot of money on high end material when you can get a real nice finish with lower end and if **** gets messed up you don't lose out on a ton of hard earned money right, so with that said this is what i would do, u spend money on the color ie base coat, buy DBC if u use PPG its very user freindly and fairly easy to spray, if you use dupont then get the chromapremier line of base coat, as i said before i sprayed ppg for almost 14 years at my dads shop as a kid and growing up and in my own shop for a few years, then switched to dupont, i really like this stuff, so i would spray nason clear which will save you a few hundred dollars 497-00 multi panel over all clear, hmmm it might be 496-00,lol well ones spot repair and ones multi panel you want that one,lol i've been breathing too many fumes for too many years
,lol but kelviiv that is what i would do, its user friendly, easy to buff, has a real nice build
but as i said that is just my oppinion everyone is entitled to his or her own
sorry guys,lol
