22 and my insurance will be 515 for every 6 months with nothing on my record. There is no way in hell I'd pay almost 4k a year to drive an S.

22...got quoted yesterday for a 00' at american family and it was $178 a month. I have 2 tickets that won't fall off till january, but when they do it's suppose to be 30-40 cheaper

btw the daily driver idea isn't so bad cause you'll get a multiple car discount

I've heard of worse than $300. If that's the best you can get, wait until you are older.

My insurance was up there like that. I paid more for insurance than I did for my first car, and when I finally got into an accident, I ended up getting less back for the car than I had spent total in insurance.

I'd wait it out, but thats just me, because I hate the concept of insurance. Its like betting against yourself - I know we all need it, but damn, do I hate it.

I don't think you can buy a car without proving to the car dealership that you are fully insured. Unless your brother is a cosigner, but even then I think you have to be on the car insurance. I don't know I might be wrong.

Yeah, you'll have be like "co-driver" or "part-time driver" of that car and it may still be pretty expensive but not as expensive as having you as the full-time driver.

At 23 dollars an hour you make good money and you will probably love your S like a family member, but you are going to pay 300 on car insurance, another 300-400 on the car and thats if you are getting a used one and/or have a big down payment and then there's GAS god only knows how much you will spend on that oh and oil changes et cetera. Thats like 800 or more a month. My only advice is, don't make this choice hastaly.

Goodluck.

There are so many variables that come in to play here. What year car? Whats your record like? What kind of coverage are you looking for? Do you have a second car? Are you looking to do business with a big insurance company like Progressive, or Geico? Or are you looking at places like the General? The list goes on.

My record is quite colorful, I am 24, and I was quoted less than that on an '03 with full coverage from progressive.

I was quoted even less than the '03 S2000 on an '04 EVO. My '06 Civic LX is more expensive to insure than an '06 Civic Si. Reason? The Si has more safety features. There are just a lot of variables. Best thing you can do is play with the coverage numbers, go online and check lots of different places, and go from there.

Good luck!

Damn, how many insurance carriers did you try? I mean only thing can think of why insurance would be that high is driving record and age, but if your clean record thats a crappy quote.

I recently got a S2K, was looking around for insurance and most places I was getting about 200-300 a year like you. Then I did a quote with Mercury and I got a pretty good pricing for 850 per 6months / 1700 a year.

I'm 24 yrs old and Ive had 1 accident which was 3 months ago in June which was my fault. 0 points on my record, no tickets.

This is for 05 S2k:
Liability: 100,000/300,000
Property Damage: 100,000
Uninsured Motorist: 100,000/300,000
$500 Deductible for Comp/Coll
Rental Car

having 6 years of experience really helps a lot towards insurance where i'm from. my insurance will decrease by 1500 in febuary for me. they figure when you are younger you have less experience and most likely will get into accidents. especially with a more expensive vehicle. that's why a lot of young people get cars put under thier parent's name.
