Default 98 GSR - is it worth $5500 you tell me!

alright.. im looking at buying this 1998 Integra GSR. It has a rebuilt title, 136,xxx miles. LS Tranny. All stock. KYB shocks. Skunk2 Springs. Rota Slips with Falken Azenis rt-615 tires. Front bumper was semi repaired instead of replaced. Driver seat has a tear on the side.

He is willing to sell me the car for $5500 with an OEM ITR wing, and no stereo.

And I have to drive 4 hrs to pick it up. Do you think its worth it?

Let me know..

Body, motor, electrical and previous driver.... factor in all this.... If it is up to spec with performance, then offer 4900! Thats what I would do.

seen the pictures of it before it was fixed.. it was nothing major. he wanted $6000 for the car without the ITR wing. I offered $5000. he didnt budge. neither did i. finally tonight we got to $5500 with the ITR wing and not sure if im keeping the stock deck or not and im driving 4hrs to his house. So really im paying $5300 for the car because I would be buying an ITR wing anyways.

definitely taking a compression tester with me..

he switched transmission from that car to his other turbo integra. he had an LSD for gsr trans no LS.

Also, seen the accident pics, was nothing major.

5000 max. Salvage title + a lot of work to be done not really worth much. But just my opinion. If you have a lot of time/parts it could be worth it.

i got a GSR trans but other than that.. still needs a seat, bumper.. and its all stock with a rebuilt title

Im having second thoughts..

I dont plan on reselling the car for a few years so im not to worried about the resale value of a rebuilt titled car..

I got my 97 gsr in 2003 w/ 32k miles on it, no body damage, C.A.I. dc sport exhaust and dc header for $4200. 5500 seems a bit overpriced.

Find out some more info about that rear suspension. Was every single thing replaced back there? That is alot of money for an entirely new corner.

I got my car (98 GS-R supersonic blue pearl) with 147k bone stock for $4900.00

It was in much better shape (body/engine/interior) than the car you're looking at.

However there are some decent upgrades on it. It's really up to you, it's not an easy car/color combo to find.

P.S. mine had that tear too, SUPER easy fix with just a needle and black thread. I have no sewing experience, and made it look legit in about 20 minutes.

And you could always throw on an OEM lip kit and it will look much better.

I didn't know about frame/suspension damage. To me that should cut the price in half, I'd avoid it for anything over 3k

seems shady...Why is the radiator support silver?? must have been hit hard..whats with the ls tranny? it looks like he had a header before or for all you know boosted with the ls tranny. compression #'s? i'd offer 4400$ as is TOPS. If it was bone stock with minor cosmetic problems then i would give him 5500$ with a salvage/rebuilt title.

that thing sounds like it was pretty beat up previously. there could be alot of hidden problems with it. the ls trans is sucky too. i would pass if it was me. if you really have you heart set on it try to lowball some more.

The radiator support was replaced because it is a safer fix than bending the old one back. The state goes through a lot of safety inspections before they will retitle a car.

It has an LS tranny only because I wanted an LSD on my other Integra and it is easier to add an OEM ITR LSD to a GS-R tranny than an LS tranny.

It HAD a salvage title because the owner before me hit a curb and when insurance added up what it would cost to fix (all new parts from the dealer, it came to like $9,200). It now has a rebuilt title, by the way.

What work needs to be done? What parts does he need?

That set of tires/wheels is gone.

It was ONLY the trailing arm that was bent, but I took it upon myself to replace the entire suspension assembly.

Thanks, Toua.

That's a bit of an overgeneralization, isn't it?

It is essentially bone stock with minor cosmetic problems.

What makes you say it was "pretty beat up"? Ask the OP, based on what I have told him, if he suspects there are any hidden problems.

Yeah, this is why i didnt want to comment because i knew the seller was on honda-tech, and i didnt want to advocate buying it or not, but i just gave my own personal opinion.

I said it would require some work to put it back into good stock condition, ie. the seats, the valve cover, the tranny, the header, the front bumper and a very good washing. And this is what i would personally do, and hence my comment previously stated. But sorry if it sounded like i was bashing your car (because i know i wouldn't want anybody saying something that would prevent the sale of my car) and good luck on the sale.
