Default d15z1

Ok guys i really need some help. Nobody is answering any of my other threads. Do i have the black sheep of the civic engines? i have a 92 hatch and i was wondering if all the d15 parts are swappable from other d15s onto this one? z1 i found out was for economy.

Whats the trim of my car? I don't have a car manual to tell me, i don't have a clue because its not listed on my trunk lid. All i know is its got a really annoying shift light and it is the economy vtec? what the hell is economy vtec?

You most likely have a VX. Call a honda dealer. Tell them you dont know what trim your car is. Give them your vin.

OR..look on your insurance card.

The D15Z1 is awesome. 52mpg back in 1992....WOOOT!! I'd love that as a daily driver.

Anyway. Just swap it out. The good thing is, you allready have VTEC...so no wiring work if you swap it out. Even a D16Z6 is nicer than what you have.

The Z1 only revs to like 5500 rpm or something, doesn't it? It's been a while since I drove one. That would clue me in to believe that the internals aren't nessacarily very strong. Or I could be wrong, and it could be all in the cylinder head. Soft valve springs would make for good economy.

IIRC, VTEC E means that you have a 12 valve cylinder head when you're not in VTEC. and a 16valve head when you are in VTEC. I'm not sure if it actually has valve lift.

crazy. it revs to almost seven. It only feels stronger at the top end. hahaha It feels good on the low end, nice and strong, weaker midrange because you can feel the crossover, and then very strong in the high rpm.

I guess the wiring is all there but i just want to confirm i can use other d15 parts on this engine. Its my dd but i want to make 180whp and supposidly all the d15s can make around 200whp safely.

If i blow the car up i will buy a vtec. I just need some basic info. I miss my 4th gen prelude already i can't wait another year

So you're going to turbo a D15Z1? That's weird. You're going to need so many parts and engine management and tuning, that in the end, it would have cost just as much to just get a B series. Regardless of what anyone told you, you cant piece together a NICE, RELIABLE turbo kit for $1500 or something unless you're very experienced and you're doing all the work yourself including tuning. Even after that, something will break. Whether it be the turbo, the manifold, the lines, or the motor itself.

If you're going turbo, prepare to spend some money. A few thousand if you want everything to be 100% solid.

who told you that? they were not talking about the Z1 engine(VX)
sure the D15 may be able to reach if built with a cheaper DIY setup with a good tune, but even with an expert tune and expensive setup I doubt that the Z1 would ever reach that.
The Z1 was designed for mpg only. Same with the HX (search there was a guy that boosted his HX to 165hp or something like that)

EXACTLY. And the turbo D will make 160-180 at the wheels, the B16 will only make 160 at the crank.

You have a VX. I'm 100% sure. Search Hondaswap for the VIN decoding FAQ if you don't believe me.

VX's have a front lip spoiler, a rear diffuser, weigh the same as the CX (or very close), are pre-wired for VTEC, the dizzy is the same as the D16Z6, and it has a tach cluster.

The only bad thing about a VX is that when you swap it you will have to get a cat. The VX puts the cat on the header and so the the exhaust downpipe is longer.

hmmm well thanks for the info. I will be looking at other options and enjoy the 50mpg haha. Besides i have a 4th gen to deal with built h22 ftw (400whp) and yes that project is done right. Going to cost around 10g's.

i Just wanted some power for this dd but i guess i can suck it up and drive slow like a normal person
