Good Customer Service Is Still Alive...
I just had an email discussion with Taylor Cable Products. Talk about great and quick customer service. They responded to my emails within 15 mins...
Went like this:
-----------------------------
Me:
I have a set of your Taylor ignition wires I put in my ’98 Acura CL about 80K miles ago. Do you have a certain mileage that you recommend replacing them?
Thanks for making a great product!
Mike at Taylor:
If you have the 8mm Pro Wires, Spiro Pro wires or the Thundervolt 50 wires and they are not damaged then they will virtually live forever. My personal set went 18 years on my truck. You can ohm check the wires but on my set they still were in tolerance after all that time. So we do not have a suggested replacement interval.
Me:
Thanks for the quick response.
I have the SPIRO PRO 8mm set and they still look great. It there an Ohm rating I should test for just in case? I know the OEM service manual says there should be resistance of 25K Ohms Max at 68 Deg F.
Mike at Taylor:
Our Spiro Pro wires are 350 ohms per foot (+ or – 20%). This is how performance is enhanced. By removing the resistance in the wire more electricity will flow to the plug. Also, our jackets are 100% silicone for longevity as opposed to factory wires that are molded from a plastic base that dries out, cracks and leads to crossfires.
-----------------------------
I’ll ohm test them for the hell of it when I replace my dist and plugs. But I’m 99.9% sure they will be fine…
