Default Heater mods?

Any little things that can be done to increase heat output in an EG? I twisted the valve on my Prelude, but can't seem to find the same part on the Civic.
Its cold here and the Civic heat sucks.....
Thanks

Wow, I was just about to post something similar.

+1 to cold Chicago.

My car doesn't seem to be warming up. I drive around for over 5 mins and my car never really warms up(temp gauge not at middle or even 1/4).

Very similar for me. I drive the car for 30min and its just luke warm. My Prelude's heat is sooo hot that I have to leave it on low.
Is there something that may need replacing.....
Grrr....Civic Maintenance! I hate spending any time working on this car.

Im sure its just as cold here in the winter as there...Im just fine...

Try finding a warmer thermostat or disconnect the fan switch so the engine runs hotter.

Do thermostats go bad?

I remember replacing my "race" thermostat from my M3 to a OEM one 4 winters ago so that my car would have heat.

Considering my Civic is stock I don't think anyone put a aftermarket thermostat in it.

Thanks guys....I wasn't sure if it needed some work or the heater just sucked. I'm sure being from Georgia, the car has never had any sort of heater work done.

As far as disconnecting the fan switch.....
How much is the fan even going to be running when its 20* outside?
What range of THERMOs are available for the Civic? It IS possible that theres some sort of super low thermo in there.....

you could always replace a heater core with a full sized radiator that would get you toasty once the car warms up. lol

Is my 1/2 C&R radiator maybe causing some of this? Is it really that efficient in cooling things off? I didn't even think about that. I have one on my Prelude but the car never sees cold weather driving.
1) Check/Replace thermo
2) Disconnect fan----replace fan switch?<<--Did this on my Prelude for the reverse effect---fan kicks on sooner
3) Check heater core condition
