Scratching Sound @ 3k rpms in gears 1-3
hello HT
i recently had the clutch changed maybe 2 months ago. this is a case where i let the GF drive the car. now i hear scratching sound [metal on metal] on @ 3k in gears 1-3. 3100 rpms it goes away.
weird but can anyone verify if this is a serious issue?
thanks in advance!

alright - its more than likely your input shaft bearing...if you plan on fixing this yourself it will be in your best interest to just buy the bearing from a honda dealer and then fix it - but if you aren't fixing it..you are much better off buying an entirely new trans..it will cost more for a mechanic to tear the trans apart, replace the bearing, put everything back together and then put it back in your car..a trans for that car should run you a couple hundred bucks...like 250-300
im going through same problem right now (2nd time) and my new trans is on its way. much cheaper to have a mechanic (or even yourself if you have experience) to just swap the trans..and less downtime on the car

its just normal the bearing just wear out... the isb cant be lubed its inside the trans housing it gets its lube from the trans fluid.
exactly, just after awhile the bearing wears out and needs to be replaced...OR if there is HEAVY gear braking from high RPMs or if someone downshifts WAY too early..it can cause the bearing to immediately fail
