Are you having any shifting or anyother sort of problems with your tranny to go along with this solid D4? A solid light usually indicates a problem in the TCU (Transmission Control Unit).

yes it starts off in i think it is 3rd gear . i can pull the shifter down to 1st an it will go to first but when i shift up it goes in what i think is 3rd gear . as soon as the d4 light goes out everything works fine again untill that light lites up

Have you tried retrieving the codes from your ECU? A D4 Light can also mean that there may be a PGM-FI problem.
