keeps motor solid
restrains movement

reduces wheelhop and "smoother" shifting

I feel ESMM are decent for the price and your goals. They help prevent wheel hop. Help protect wear on the stock rubber mounts. If you are honestly planning on modding your vehicle out powerwise, I would just suggest getting new Motor Mounts. Innovative Mounts are what I use and suggest. I also believe Hasport has them now for the Kseries motors. Hope that helps out briefly. There are many other little descriptions that describe what mounts will do, but they all tie in to preventing wheel hop. -Johnny

Default motor mounts

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to buy k-pro and skunk 2 stage 1 cams for my 04 type s and i wanted to know if i should get new motor mounts as well. I haven't been able to find anything about the integrity of the stock mounts and how much power they can handle. Thank you.

I bought a used torque dampener, only slight rattle at low rpm's while mounts or esmm would be very noticable/annoying. I never thought it would bother me until sitting at stop lights and people always tell me something is wrong with my timing/idle/exhaust/etc.

motor mounts are never a bad idea. $22 bucks at autozone (they order them) . Comes with 4 inserts, 2 go onto the front mount, 2 go on the back, they are just inserts into the oem ones, not full replacements

my friend blew one of his mounts
it was an 05 and he had it for a year and he was stock
warranty covered that issue though

does esmm and a torque damper change how the car shifts?

Yeah, you can feel it. It's more "crisp."

The inserts do their job and with a race header it's wise to invest on a set.

so esmm are just a rubber thing that connect on the motor mounts. do the mount bolt need to come off in order to insert the esmm?

Question, I know esmm's and aftermarket motor mounts both reduce motor movement hence better shifter feel and removes the risk of cracking your RH.

How come you get more vibrations with a ESMM compared to a aftermarket motormount? shouldnt they be relatively the same? if anything shouldnt the aftermarket motor mount stiffen the motor more hence more vibrations compared to the esmm?

I don't know who told you ESMM cause more vibration than mounts but they don't.

Vibrations (least to most)
Torque Dampener < ESMM < Poly Mounts < Solid Mounts

IDK, I was in my buddy's Si that had Innovative mounts and it rattled BAD. It destroyed ride comfort and made the car "feel" like a POS. I don't know what hardness polyurethane they were though. I asked Innovative what mounts I should get for a 300 whp ep3, they said the softest. I asked which for a 400 whp ep3 and they said the softest again. This led me to believe even the softest were pretty hard.

There are actually 3 different ones and the solid aluminum. I think he must have had the second or even 3rd stiffest. He thinks he is making tons of power.
