You sure it wasn't just the difference between manual and automatic mounts?

@ OP:
Yeah, it should work. Gotta use the right mount...

I think**

Even if it physically bolts in, you still have the problem that the OBD1 automatics are only partially electronically controlled, while the OBD2 autos are fully automatic. So you'd have to convert the whole engine, ecu, and wiring to OBD2.

If anything was to not allow the 99auto to mate on a 92-95auto I figured it would have something to do with the OBD2's and the wiring. Good to know

no i bought and ex automatic transmission from a 99 civic ex for $80, to put in my 95 ex with a broken tranny and it didn't work. Cause the 99 ex tranny use some kind of sensor and the 95 ex have a cable coming out from the tranny to the tb also with there was some issue with the mount. For some reason the automatic just doesn't work like the same as a manual. You can try if don't believe me and you will fail... i guarantee!!! it wont work and you'll waste your money.

Just buy a 95 automatic tranny

Do you have any pictures of what doesn't work. Do you think there is a way to convert the newer tranny?
