Very intense moment for me, my family and I were threatened by the 2007 Wild Fires in Southern California and was ordered to evacuate. Stuck in traffic, I had my foot on the clutch, not pressed down all the way but I did press it about 5%. Out of no where I felt the clutch just "sprung" onto the floor. It did not drop like if i were to have a fluid leak or low on transmission fluid, it literally sprung onto the floor like its suppose to spring back up. I was like "wtf, not now, not now" and pulled the clutch back up and to my relief, it was back to normal!! It worked perfectly fine when I left my house and right after I picked it back up and drove to the evacuation area, it was just that one moment in traffic. I checked my transmission fluid level and checked for leaks at the slave cyldinder, there were no leaks and a normal level of fluid. What was the deal with that?????? Its about 500 miles on my new ACT xtreme pressure plate and sprung 6-puck clutch. possibly air in the system? pressure plate or flywheel bolts might be backing out? Drove it back home when it was clear to go back home and had no problems at all. feedback needed, leave negative comments out thanks!!

oh and, mechanically, how does the spring breaking cause the clutch to spring down like that?
This happened to me on my 92 hatch. The problem was the master cylinder. Look under the carpet near the clutch pedal and check for oil leaks, if found then replace.

no leaks at all on the clutch slave cylinder thats on the tranny? the fluid level does not move at all even after a few days of not driving?
