Default vtec not pulling very strong

was wondering if yall could throw some senarios at me so maybe i could figure out why. the pressure switch and solinoid are both good. does oil type have anything to do with it. and when is it suposed to kick in. im pretty sure it kicks in but i think its just not very strong.

You aren't going to "feel" vtec in a d16.

you're not in for anything it's HT. It's a home for all Honda owners and such to ask Q's. hope you figure it out. but you cant really expect much from a d series if it's stock.
the guy above is right but you damn sure will hear it. when i had a single cam i was happy with just with the recognition of vtec popping.

Yeah in a b series it will be louder and pull harder but you're still not going to really "feel" it. And in a d series, most definitely not going to feel it pull any harder. Anyways this has been covered many times so I don't want to start a discussion.

You should not be able to feel the crossover. If you can, then you need a tune. You also can really only hear it with some sort of free flowing intake. If you're not throwing any CEL's, you probably have nothing to worry about.

Keep in mind that the following prerequisites must be met for VTEC to engage:
1) engine speed must be sufficient
2) engine temperature must be sufficient (fully warmed up engine)
3) throttle position must be sufficient
4) vehicle speed must be sufficient (I think it's ~20mph)
5) oil pressure must be sufficient (try changing your oil and filter)

A 58mm might. 60mm+ on almost all N/A d-series builds is overkill. Call Skunk2 and see what they recommend.

you deff wont feel it, although, with your setup you SHOULD hear it, as long as everything is functional. My friends D16 with 12:1 compression and stg 2 cam is veery loud. Check for error codes, thats where you should be starting.

It's a d16. Why would you assume that?

On a d16 you will barely feel or hear vtec unless you have exhaust and maybe a CAI and when you do hit vtec it should be around 5500 rpms I believe.
