bypassing secondary o2 sensor???
hey guys have a 00' teg and looking to see if there is anyway i can just bypass the secondary o2 (one in the cat). what happened is i purchased a skunk2 test pipe and they welded the bung in the totally wrong end and the o2 wont go regardless because it hits the front sway. i work at an exhaust shop so yeah i COULD reweld a new bung. but if there is a way to do away with it, id like to do. also i know you can get rid of it with hondata buuutttt it is just an ls so i need no tune. anyone who has any experience with this id greatly appreciate it! thanks!
YOu can pull the bulb out when you you go into for service... Still will know you have a CEL on! YOu can always use your test pipe and weld the O2 sensor on there... Thats what I did and runs great! Without your other O2 sensor... BAD GAS MILEAGE! Cause the 2nd O2 sensor reads the flow of exhaust and measure's it out with air/fuel! With wrong air/fuel... Your car is gonna eat some gas up!
I thought the secondary o2 sensor monitored the readings from the first o2 sensor to seem if there are any discrepancies, that is why the CEL comes on? I also thought it didn't affect gas mileage?

not entirely correct.
The first (primary) O2 is what determines your air/fuel ratio. The secondary O2 is there really just to make sure the catalytic convertor is doing its job. So even if you put it in the correct spot on the test pipe, you'll still most likely have a CEL.
There's really no good solution that keeps everything legal and legit. Me personally I would keep the catalytic convertor in there. You're probably gaining like 3 or 4 hp at best with the test pipe, and leaving a stinky smell everywhere you go, which makes your car seem like it's a POS to anyone behind you.

Don't do that ****. That's stupid. The secondary doesn't measure air/fuel. It monitors if the cat is doing its job. Your bad gas mileage is due to your CEL. CEL puts the ECU in limp mode and makes the car run rich anyway. You can let the secondary hang, and band-aid it if you want. But you should probably put in the effort and do things the proper way... Just my $.02

That depends upon the CEL. A CEL for the secondary O2 will not have any effect on the way the engine runs.

i dont know where to find it offhand and dont feel like searching, but you can build a simple resistor setup that will allow you to unplug the second 02 sensor. The resistor circuit gives the computer a false reading that makes it think everything is ok...

Its a ton better than any of the other suggestions...not to mention, it wont throw a CEL and the engine will operate as if everything is just fine. I dont see what is wrong with this method. The second 02 is in place to check whether or not the cat is working properly, since there would be no cat, theres no use for the second 02. It is a simple, yet effective solution.
To the OP, search "02 simulator"

In order to get rid of the cel, you need to connect the sensor and use an o2 sensor simulator. You are gonna need to weld a bung in a place where you can connect the sensor. There is no other way if you wanna get rid of the engine light.
