difference between 96-97 spec and 98+ ITR engines?

Default difference between 96-97 spec and 98+ ITR engines?

what is the difference? some sites say different things that arent the same as other site... 10.4:1 compression and 11.0:1 compression? 196hp, 210 hp? i dont know which is which and which would fit best into an '97 del sol si..

there is no difference b/t the 2 engines just the body changes with the 98+ tegs. The ones tha say 210hp are jap spec but the usdm b18c5 is the same no matter what year its from

actually gear ratio are a little different between the 96 and 98 type r . the 123 gears are the same . 4 and 5 are different and the final gear is different in the 98+ .

difference in itr motors.

jdm itr 98+ 4.7 FD.
jdm itr 9697 are 4.4 FD
usdm itr 97,98,00,01 came with 4.4 FD
jdm itr 98+ came with 4-1 tubular header
jdm 96 97 came with cast header
usdm 9798 00 01 came with cast header
and cams. 98+ jdm better cams along with 00 01 usdm motors.

Yeah J spec engines have a different final drive not the US which I was referring to

"better" how so? is it a lift thing or something else?

basically all of that and also that 98+ ITR intake cams had 3 more degrees of duration over the earlier years. Not to mention the difference in compression ratios, All USDM ITRs only had a 10.6CR while 98+ JDM ITR had 11.1 compression.
