Default My efk build

Here are some pics of what I have doing. I will be taking my time to complete this since money is scarce right now.

I have more pics of the shifter plate I am making that I will post later.

Thank you for the warm welcome. My brother did a K24/Z3 head in his EP hatch. I bought the K20A3 which I am puting in the EF. I have already cut the floor board where the old shift linkage was. The K shifter needs a flat surface so I will build it. I have most everything I need to complete it all that is left is the tranny, axles and wire harness from rywire. Actually theat is a few parts.
I know I should have just went with a K20A2 but you cant go wrong with a 250.00 A3. I purchased the A2 oil pump conv and thinking of going with Skunk2 stg2 cams or maybe a SC. With all the crap my brother is talking I want to beat him at the track with his A3. Once its in al will always have the option of a K24 down the line.
I will post pics and info as I do. I am in no hurry to complete this since I already have my type-s as a daily.

you'll need a lot more than trans, axles, and a wire harness.

BTW, k20a3 motors suck donkey *****. i dont consider that a "K" motor at all. it's almost like an LS motor in the B series crowd. </TD></TR></TABLE>

What K Series to you consider a K motor?

k20a2
k20z1
k20a
k20z3

and pretty much any of the k24s.

the k20a3 is out of the 02-04 civic SI and is weaksauce. VTEC is only on the intake cam and it has a 5-speed.

in my opinion, it isnt worth swapping that into an EF at all. you still need to purchase all of the same parts to do a K swap, with none of the benefits.

Can't wait to see this build get going. I love EFK builds, just wish I had the money to do it myself.

So an A3 is worthless? I guess I should have mentioned my goal of 250 whp. According to ephatch.com it has been done. Just looking to prove a point to my brother. I could do it with my type-s but then that would take the fun out of building something.
I have russel fuel line with black fitting, FPG,BEGI FPR, aem fuel rail, KPRO, Hasport mount kit and I am going to build my own traction bars. So yeah I pretty much only need what I posted.
If I cant sell these seats they will go in the hatch too.

not the best choice if your concerned about hp/$?! for 250 dollars, id say that your horsepower : money spent ratio is gonna be pretty damn good, compared to the people that'll spend 4000+ on the "real K series motors" to throw in their civics. good luck with it, im sure you'll be happy with the results nonetheless if the swaps done correctly.

keep it up!

you failed to mention that he still needs a 250-500 fuel system, 800-1000 for kpro, 500-700 for mounts, 350-1000 for a header all for that junk motor. plus, that motor still wont fit under the hood. might as well swap in a B series..... his HP/$ would far surpass this thing and be faster doing it.

anyway, i'll take my $4000+ k motor over 15 k20a3's anyday.

do some research on k motors before making that statement.

So like I said I already have the mounts and the kpro. A b is awsome but if I can build a k why not? I got the mounts for 350 shipped from k20.org. Also purchased my half shaft wire harness coil packs shifter cables and box. I have tons of stuff that I have not posted.
Stay tuned for my build.

that's good to hear.

how do you plan on making 250whp out of this thing? boost?

because if you plan on doing it N/A i can see your budget surpassing a normal k series build.

please dont take my comments the wrong way. if it was a cheap swap overall, i say go for it. but all the little stuff is going to nickel and dime you. trust me.

I agree..There was an ebay seller selling a k20a3 motor for 400 bucks I was going to jump on it since it was so cheap until I found out it makes 160hp.People hear "k-seires" and go nuts

Hoping to go super charged or swap the head. I would like to do it SC to keep the whole A3 thing going. I have a T25 but Im not sure if it will hit that 250hp.

if you go the supercharger route..... that would work for the power wanted and probably be a decent swap. you could always swap in a k20a2 later since you'll already have the swap components.

what are your plans for a header? I have a brand new DC sports K swap header that i wont be using if you're interested. it'll stay cheap and within a tight budget.
