Sup all, new, and have some questions on turbo'ing an f22!
Sup guys, new to these forums. As an introduction my name is Z. Yes just the letter Z, and I own a 1995 accord EX with a lil bit of mods:
First off its the f22b1 engine (vtec)
-tein coilovers
-17 inch black/chrome (lip of rim) rims
-tinted windows
-aem v2 intake
-custom 2.5 inch piping (I think, cant remember exact diameter) to a magnaflow cat
-altezza tailights
Anyway so I was searching around a bit trying to find some information to boost my f22 engine. So far I got that I would need low compression pistons, aftermarket rods, new rod and main bearings of course, a metal head gasket.
Most likely going with the JE pistons, and eagle rods. Or so I think....
I want my car to push about 15psi or so...so the 8psi with stock everything just wont cut what I want to do lol
anyway, thanks for any help you guys can be. I just found these forums and hope to be more involved.
hit me up on aim if u find anything more. thanks

the stock pistons are already low compression, 8:1. The stock connecting rods are pretty strong on the f series.
Might want to keep the rods, get new rod and main bearings, new headgasket and maybe new pistons, mine are JE as well... took about 10 or 12 weeks to be done, they are 10:1 (i'm doing all motor).
But i think you are on the right track, might want to do a little more research just to see what people have done to their engines and stuff, possibly learn more about it.

ditch the tail lights, you'll gain like 30 hp with the stock ones put back on
no really though, if you turbo, you're gunna want your car as stock looking at possible or get really good insurance.
As for the motor, its basically built for boost. Pistons and headgasket and the new bearings should about do it. Theres a forced induction section on here too.

Then you need to read the forced induction FAQs at least before you even buy anything. There's a lot more to boosting a car not made for boost than just putting parts in. Learn about engine management and tuning first.

You have to specify the turbo too. Engine building shouldn't be rated on PSI, but on the power level. A T25 at 8PSI produces no where near a T3/T4 at 8PSI.
Like other's said, rods and pistons are good, just added security with new ones. You also have to deal with the question of wether or not you want A/C or P/S, an oil or water + oil cooled turbo, how you are going to plumb things.

Yeah I'll look into it some more for sure, I think the turbo I was looking at wasnt anything special, a turbonetics one off of ebay. So heh..yeah

as posted on your duplicate thread.
"Whats your hp goal your trying to reach(?), cause that would be more useful information for us to base our thoughts/ recommendations.
Just saying 15 psi does not tell me much.... 15 psi on a t25 is much different than 15 psi on a t3/t4.
I dont want to asume anything and start rambling off information based on the unknown."
I will also add that I dislike f22parts because their prices are high and they customer service is lacking.

lol I woulda posted my response a long time ago but the newb 5 post thing stopped me.
Anyway, my power goal is high 200's low 300's. Considering 8psi stock internals is projected as 210 hp I think that my goal is attainable without spending a considerable amount right?
Also, I found a prospective turbo kit, tell me what you guys think.

Yea the 5 post thing, forgot about that.
On 8-9 psi I put down 236/ 248 on a stock f22b1, through apexi 60mm catback, custom turbo kit, 450cc injectors, hondata, p28, walbro pump, and good tuning by suprdave.
I also put down 335/ 279 on the same setup with more boost and an open dp... the 450's were just about max'd though.
You could put down high 200's on a stock f with a turbo kit, proper fuel management, and good tuning.
I would recommend some arp head studs (they dont list the f22 so the h23 are what you need), a decent clutch, a walbro pump, and make sure all maintance is up to date. Also do a compression/ leakdown on the motor before boosting it to make sure it is healthy.
Is this a daily driver btw?

Yeah its a daily driver. The compression is good, and the engine is extremely healthy. Funny thing is its got 157k miles on it. We took it apart and the damn thing runs so clean for the miles it suprised us. The motor runs real strong. The previous owner was an older man so I got lucky, he never abused the car. I'm the first young owner of the car and well I take care of my car. I know how honda's can last forever if you take care of them.
Oh btw its an auto..
lol. I wanna do a tranny swap but that'll come after the turbo project as I can be fine with an auto turbo..
I'm not sure who I'd have tune it other than myself, New Mexico isnt that great for finding tuning shops for anything.
Do you have any places where I can find these parts? A google search just isnt cutting it for me. Unless I'm just looking wrong..

Oh its an auto... well that could create a problem for you in short order after you start boosting.
The stock auto transmissions in our cars are not the most forgiving to boosted power or other highly abusive situations that double the output of the motor (
). At minimum you will need a good oil cooler for it and to service it with fresh fluids. It will probably eventually still **** the bed at the power level your talking about.
They do make some parts for the automatic that could help but it is almost not worth it imo, the parts are expensive to buy and expensive to install. You would be better off just doing a 5 speed swap as you seem to realize.
As for a good source to buy parts, well there are many... which parts? (sponsors here are a good start)
For the turbo kit, I would not be much help though with a source for parts... as mine was mostly custom I did not use much off the shelf application specific goods.
For arp head studs, I ordered from Jegs honestly because I had some trouble with them being backordered from a couple other sources I called. I am sure though you could contact any number of sponsors here who have access to arp hardware for them though (check in the sponsor marketplace and search through for people who have good feedback... cause they usually are reputable and reliable).
Walbro pump can be had also from a variety of sources and sponsors here. I personally ordered mine back in the day from Lightning Motorsports.
The Hondata s200 and the p28 I got locally from someone who bought it new and ended up not wanting to convert to obd1... sold it to me new and cheap. Agian check through the sponsor marketplace and the classifieds here for a p28/ hondata if you decide to go that route for management. There is a ton of dealers here and people selling them in the classifieds. Big thing agian is to make sure the person or place is legit, reputable, and reliable.
New headgasket, valvecover seals, etc... just go with OE honda goods. (local dealership or a little cheaper dealership is majestic honda online parts http://www.hondaautomotivepart...h.jsp )
If I missed something I apologize, just post up and I will elaborate... I just am covering the basics really... and I may be passing over things that your curious about because it is not something that stands out in my mind at this moment.

As for parts pistons, aftermarket rods, new rod and main bearings, and a metal head gasket. Oh yeah the injectors, fuel pump etc. Basically everything to push the numbers I'm looking for. A list would be greatly appreciated. :D And I'll check out that site.
Oh yeah and where could I get all the gear I would need to do the swap? I'll have to check local junkyards see if I can find the tranny. I know I'm going to need the whole clutch assembly so lol I'm gonna have to find a pretty unique honda to rip the **** out of...
Thanks again for the help man. Contact me on aim or pm me if you see I've reached my post count for my nubness lol.

Check out these guys for your rods, pistons, bearings. http://www.raceeng.com/
Thats where I purchased mine from, very knowledgeble staff.
As for your Headgasket OEM will do just fine.
Fuel pump check the sponsors as these can be purchased just about anywhere.
Fuel injectors http://www.tunertoys.com
As for the Treadstone Performance F22 kit I've just installed it onto my built Accord and the kit is very nice, good components.
Should have some numbers very soon.

Anyone have any ideas where to get the transmission? And another question, is it going to be necessary (without having to do custom fab. I.E. Welding) to have to get rid of my ac ps?
you could check a junkyard... or i've seen people on here who sell everything you need basically minus the tranny and axles although some include them for sale on here for a good price. i almost picked it up one time for $200.
so I'm going to need what exactly?
Like minus the tranny what else will I need? And yeah I'm going to have to try to find the same kind of honda as mine and get me that clutch assembly.
Actually, I'm going to make a thread asking this question. So far I got most of my turbo set up questions answered. There are a few things I'm still confused about but...

well just an update for those few who care
My budget for the whole project is 2500....
So, time to try and find me some good parts. I'll be posting some links to the parts I find and see if you guys can help/confirm that I found the right parts.
Thanks again to those helping me
