question about headlights...

Default question about headlights...

is it good to remove the inner piece(the plastic that blocks the lightbulb) of the headlight?
I seen a lot of ppl removed them. will it be brighter at night or something? thank u.

People don't remove them, they buy JDM headlights, which do not have them stock.

By USDOT law, it's illegal.

You'll have more light output, but not better. It will also glare horribly into the eyes of oncoming traffic.

It's illegal because it's dangerous.

It feels like its been said, without actually being said, "just don't do it". It's not a good idea.

A photo of the JDM headlights won't do any good, because they use a completely different reflector that is designed to operate without the bulb shield in place. The stock Civic headlights are poor enough to begin with. If you want an improvement, purchase upgraded halogen bulbs, do an HID retrofit using HID optics, or pick up a set of European E-code headlamps.

The peice is there to direct the light in the right direction, you want a different look or brighter lights, get something different or brighter

Not to thread jack, but do the Ebay projector housing work like they are supposed to? I don't want to retrofit my housings but I've heard that the Ebay ones don't have a good cutoff line.
