Polished heat shields?
There was a thread recently where someone would use sandpaper and metal polish to polish a set of wheels. While cleaning some engine parts since the head is off of my car, I started thinking; could a similar approach be taken to cleaning and polishing the factory exhaust shield? It'd be cheap and easy engine dress-up while keeping the OEM look. By the way, I'm considering this because my shield is permanately dirty, it won't come clean. So would sanding and polishing have a successful effect in making it shiny? What would be the best way to go about this?

i did that on my old si...never did come out as shiny as other things i've polished, but it still looked nice and you were able to see your reflection
i used sandpaper 600-2000
microfiber towels
metal polish
and a SH*T LOAD of time
(i did everything by hand too, so that probably contributed to both the final finish and the amount of time it took)
sorry no pics
