Camber Kit
I am looking at getting springs and I was wondering how many people have lowered their cars without a camber kit? (I am guessing a lot)
Someone told me that if I lower the car beyond an inch I "have" to get a camber kit, which I don't totally believe. I am guessing it's one of those "recommended" things to do.
Is there a certain drop you can go without needing it?
I know there are downfalls without using a camber kit (uneven wear and such) but I was just wondering if its a must.
Also, I used the search function and only found one thing about using a camber kit and it didn't seem to answer any of my questions.
Thanks Guys, JT

same here. i have eibach sportlines, which about 1.4 inch drop, and i have no camber kit. the camber falls just within the OK area before you need a camber kit. i havnt noticed any uneven wear or anything major.
Im in the process of lowering my car as well. I looked into the camber kit and got a quote at a local performance shop for $20 a wheel. They said I only needed it for the back... I don't mind paying the extra $40.
Sweet guys, thanks a lot for your responses...
I was debating on the Pros and the Sportlines, I would like to go eibach... I just can't stand the wheel gap

The part they quoted me for was for a Ingalls Engineering Fastcam Camber kit 35420. Went to the Ingalls site and the MSRP is $20. http://www.ingallseng.com/parts/35420.htm
I also found them on other sites for $12...

those are for the front only. not the back.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Right now Im dropped on Tein S-Techs and I forget what my actual camber rate is, but its right around the 'ok' mark. Im going to get a camber kit at some point anyways just to be safe. But like everyone else, i dont notice any uneven wear... yet.
But everything Ive seen is like $250 for the rear alone. I wanna know where they got $20 per wheel from.
edit: my bad.... guess i shouldve read the rest of the thread.

having an aggressive drop such as the sportlines
i highly recommend a camber-kit
its a noticable difference, especially the rear tires
install them the same time you install your spring/suspension
it will be much easier and its fairly affordable

this is what im telling you. if you want anything out of your suspension, you will have to change your alignment with the use of camber kits. there is no compromise in tuning your suspension.
for example, i put front camber bolts on my stock suspension to get to -2 camber and it helped drastically at the race track.

i have the sportline lowering springs on my FA5. The Camber was off -3.25 and -3.50. so my rear tires ate the dust after ~3500 miles, they were cupped really badly, vibrated on the highway and were very noisey @ 70 mph.
i would say camber kit is a must. i bought the skunk2 rear camber arms, no complaints other than they are truely a PITA to adjust... so much work

lets be honest here for a second. you are among the 3% of people on 06+ that actually track your car. most people are just going for looks. so things like this really dont matter to them.

as i've said, what is stopping people from getting a camber-kit?
saves the threads on your tires and it keeps it from looking awkard
still part of the looks catergory if that's what people are going for
