Default Newbie question: How to adjust ride height?

Just got a car that's already lowered by the previous owner with these mods:

-Koni Yellow Adjustible Shocks
-H&R Sport Springs

The thing is, I think the car is set too low lol, always seems to be hitting stuff like speed bump, and winter is coming up. Question is, how can I adjust the car's height, or more specifically, raise it up a bit? Is it something one person can do or should I get professionals to do this with alignment etc?

Thanks

Second topic from the top, always there sticky posted. I'm not sure though of any issues reusing that cir-clip, somebody may have an answer for that. It is highly recommended that you get an alignment after you change ride height.

um you have SPRINGS. springs are not adjustable.

therefore you can't raise your car.

Do you pay attention to anything that goes on in the suspension forum?

umm he has KONI SPORTS, which are height adjustable

therefore he can raise his car, IF it's not set to the top-most setting already.

I had H&R Sport springs and the front of my car was pretty low, even with the front shocks set to the top-most perch height. If that's where yours are, you can't go any higher then.

So basically this is what I have to do?

-remove wheels and jack car up
-try to fit spring compressor in and compress (cause I don't really want to remove the entire shock/suspension assembly, seems "risky")
-adjust the circlip and spring perch (where spring sits on?)
-release spring, wheel back on

But then I also need to get alignment done right? Which I guess I can't do myself.

Removing the shocks should only take a few minutes, especially on the front. 2 bolts on the shock fork, 2 bolts on the brake line, and 2 bolts on the upper shock mount. It will be MUCH easier trying to use the spring compressor off the car.

You'll probably spend more time fighting the spring compressor and limited space if you try to do it with the shocks still on the car.

But first of all, tell us what car you have, and tell us how many (if any) grooves you can see on the shock body. Like in the pic above, there is one groove below the groove where the circlip is installed. Because if you're already on the highest setting, then there's no point in doing anything because you can't go any higher.

So how well do the stock springs (I assume that's what he's got) work with the adjustable Konis?

The OP said he's got H&R springs on the Koni shocks.

I currently have OEM springs on Koni shocks:

It's a eg hatch.

Lots of people say that taking off the shocks is easy, well the thing is, it's my first time. I definitely don't want to take the wrong bolts off and mess anything up lol.

So I'll just have to follow instruction from the above link, and adjust the circlip right? I will have to remove the wheels to see what setting the current circlip is at.

As Guam_CiviC619 mentioned, I am now sure if I should reuse the circlip. I mean basically I am shifting the position, but will it still be strong when I move it? The entire car is resting on these clips!

I have moved the circlips on all 4 of my shocks a number of times, never had a problem. They've been on my car for nearly 6 years and well over 150,000 miles now.

Truthfully I have NEVER heard of having to replace the circlips just because you want to move their position.

Right.

The wheels must be re-aligned each time you change the ride height of the car.
