Default Use this turbo or no?

i bought an 18g greddy kit from my neighbor. the car hasnt been driven in four months, but was driven almost daily for 3 years with this kit. its never had a problem burning oil or making boost. the shaft play is minimal. its always had the greddy intake on it, its never been run open turbo. should i try using this turbo? the marks on the fins really arent bad. should i try smoothing them out a little? anyways, sorry for the cell phone pic, but you get the idea. i'll get better pics tomorrow.

ive seen people use turbos with far worse fin damage than that without problems. the only thing i would worry about is how long the turbo would last because it probably isnt perfectly balanced anymore. you probably wouldnt make as much power as you could either.

well, i have no idea how long its been that way, probably quite awhile. the damage seems pretty even across the fins, and there isnt much shaft play. im really only looking to make about 250-265ish whp. i think i might run it and see what happens.

no, not at all. if it was i wouldnt have even made this post. the ONLY thing i can see wrong with it is the cosmetic damage to the fins.

Honestly: Run it... the worst that can happen is it would either bind up, or leak oil.

I am on my 2nd junkyard turbo: just because I did not care about the signs when buying them; they were a temporary stop-gap[ so I can work out the bugs and things associated with the turbo setup before I am horsing on it.

That turbo will be fine. Mine looks the same and i made 370whp on my b18c at 22 psi. Worst comes to worst, turbochargers.com can rebuild it to a 20g for $200. Just changing the internals. Pretty neat.
