I have a 97 gsr with what i was told had some sort of stage 3 cams. I can not get the car to idle for nothing. at first it idles real low than shoots up between 1500 to 2000 rpms and sit there for a while

 

What sort of tuning device are you using?

 

A lot of aftermarket cams have the non-vtec lobes very close to stock, which obviously shouldn't change much. My idle shoots up when the motor is warm, presumably to keep water and oil flowing and cooling the motor

 

nothing right now I bought the car with the cams. there might be something done to the ecu for some reason my vtec kicks in at 4500 but it is the stock p72 does not look to have a chip in it maybe its been flashed?

 

Regardless if it is a flashed ECU or not, it sounds like the thing needs tuning. If they have a stock ECU, it's not going to like that slightly different cam profile, and it'll idle like ****, maybe even run lean.
Get that bad boy tuned.

 

put the stock cams in runs alot better....dont know what was with the other cams.now the car will idle at 1200 until I hook up the IACV then it shoots up to 3000 rpms dont make any sense. but he car does run much better.
