my friend is wanting to do an engine swap (when I say engine swap, I mean not only engine, but IM, TB, EM/header,accessories,etc) in his 90 crx, after some research I think that a b16a will be the easiest swap (on a relative scale) and for the money the best hp/buck.

what shopping list should I help him assemble (he is a relative newbie and doesn't have the internet to learn) to get this done?

does he have to get a whole engine & tranny assymbly?
what about engine mounts?
processor and wiring harness?
throttle cable?
if he has to get a tranny to go with it, what about halfshafts?
shift linkage and clutch stuff?

basically, when he gets started with the swap what will he need to get it working properly, and safely?

and lastly (should have asked this first, and I appologize) is there a website that has all of this spelled out for someone who has never done it before, to get us best prepaired?

 

Well he will need:
B16A motor + transmission
B-series mount kit
modified shift linkage
PR3 or PW0 ecu
LS throttle & clutch cables
90-93 Integra axles + half-shaft
B-series clutch (depending on year of tranny)
new timing belt, water pump, thermostat and all the other PITA parts that are hard to change with the engine in the car. You can do a search on this site or go to the hybrid site for more info on completing the swap. If you or your friend doesn't already have one, get a factory manual. what helms do you get if you have a b16 in a CRX?

 

you can't really get a hold of the hard copy, but there is a digital pdf version floating around the net. I have it on my box at home - if you really need it I can send it to you somehow, but someone has to know the site. I'd say just get the manual for the car, then use the digital manual if it's a b16 issue.
