How's it going? I've been told that this can be fixed, very easily at that, but no one seems to be able to tell me how to. So anyways, this is what's up:

If I put the car in PARK and start the car, it stays locked in PARK and will not go into any other gear.

This forces me to turn the car off in NEUTRAL and start it up in such, so that I can go through the gears.

If I put it into PARK, I have to use my Key (in that "tranny lock hole thing") to put it into NEUTRAL to start.

soo... any ideas? I'm in the process of gathering together a Transmission swap anyways, but in the meantime I'd like to know how to fix this annoyance.

The year of your car would help. Does the button on the shifter depress when you are in park? Do you have a factory service manual (Helm manual)? If not, see my signature.
