start up noise in bottom end
whenever i start my car after it sitting for atleast 4 hours or so; it has the spun bearing noise right when it starts up. The noise goes away after 1 second. Whats going on here?
not sure what noise you are talking about exatly, but mine made a noise almost like a faint knock, it was a wrist pin, a week later it made a hellish noise as it spewed its guts all over the road. get it checked out soon!
i was told its called piston slap. where the piston is not the actual size of the clyinder wall then when started makes the slaping sound and when gets some heat expands to the correct size of the clyinder wall. what i was told from my friend thats a honda mechanic cuz my 95 ls does the same thing.
if you think its a spun bearing then take of the oil pan and splash guard and check all your connecting rods it takes like a half hour to get the pan header and splash guard off just pull and push on the connecting rod caps when you get it open and see if there is any play in them, if there is you either spun a bearin or stretched the rod bolts but if you say its the spun bearin sound which i know all too well
then just do that check it wont hurt to find out
then just do that check it wont hurt to find out
your right but if its a spun bearing it would do it at all times not just on start up. im telling you its piston slap, take it to honda and have a mechanic tell u the same thing im telling you right now. mine has been doin it for months and no other noises are coming from the block except for that noise, and only does it rite on start up, i was told its nothing to worry about and at some point in time most motors will do it.
