Default EF Bastard Tranny Question

Ok so the 88 USDM EFs came with a different spline count(this is a fact) on the transmission.

Did the 88 JDM EFs also get bastardized?

Reason I ask... Getting a ZC(virtually free) and I need to replace the clutch...Need to know what year clutch to get...88, 89, or 90-91

Default Re: EF Bastard Tranny Question (eraser)

88 has 21 teeth on input shaft- 89 and up have 20. This only matters with clutch selection. 88 and 89 used a smaller diameter clutch disc (200mm) and 90 and up used 212mm disc. If you have the original ZC flywheel it is for the 212mm Disk as mine was. But I wasn't using an '88 trans either. Hope that answers your question
