what is this part of the exhaust called>?!?!? i have a 91 crx with a 5zigen catback exhaust and i have a crack in this part and it sounds like ****!!!! does anyone know where i can buy a replacement. ?!?! tried to weld it but its a really hard weld

 

will they all fit the same ? and i have a catalytic converter this is after it rite ?

OP, I can't be sure what you meant just the res or the whole chunk of piping?

 

well i just wanna buy a bolt on replacement resonator( by the way thats what i thought the name of it was but wasnt 100% sure) or can i just chop it out and put a straight pipe there. i love the sound of my exhaust before the crack like i said i paided alot for it

When I custom made my exhaust, I used a glass pack as a res works great and low cost.

 

anyidea where i can buy a replacement. id liek to get the 5zigen part . but ifnot a part close to it in quality.

lol and ill ask again hoping someone knows does this influence the sound of the exhaust at all? like if i get a cheap replacement wil my car sound like total **** . because from my understanding this part is like a mini muffler

 

Is there anywhere I can buy the pipe from the cat to the axle back? I think it's called the intermediate or a pipe. I don't know but I know I need that/those pipes.

Yes, the res can and will alter the tone, really depending on the kind some are just tubes others are tubes with a inside mesh or something else, even others are stuffed with fiberglass of sorts.

Alot of things alter and change the sound of the exhaust swapping brands of res will not make a huge change but it can and will alter the tone somewhat depending on what else is done.

Personally, I'm picky and I'm quite happy with my setup, it's a cheap way to improve tone.

 

thanks for the info when i bought this part they had to custom make it... well i dono if custom make is the correct thing to say.
they dont kept my catback exhaust on the shelf when u order it they pull out the blueprints and make it. thats y it took like 3 months and like 700 bucks . so u can see why im being picky
ive had this exhaust for like 4 years so im hoping i can find the paper work but im low on cash so i dono what to do i dont wanna pay 200 bucks for them to make that part for me
