AEM F/IC: Need a harness!
Hi,
I'm thinking about installing an AEM F/IC piggyback on the 2001 R. I would like to get a 2001 R to a 2001 R harness that I could patch the F/IC into. That way I won't have to butcher the stock harbess.
Any help out there, given that there is no plug-n-play harness?
Thanks,
John

Yup. It is one of the pack of Piggyback Controllers with the big exception that it appears to control the injectors directly by taking the pulse going to the injectors and changing it, rather than by tricking the ECU.
And, yes I know it is still a Piggyback and that a Stand-Alone would be better, or a modded OBD1 ECU, but............ see my next sentence......
Supposedly it won't 'throw a code'. I have to deal with New York State Inspection which includes plugging into the ECU, so this would be important to me and would make life easier. A Stand-Alone or an OBD1 would literally cause a red light to go on in Albany DMV.
There used to be a couple people on HT who made harnesses. Are they still around? If I could buy plugs or a harness extension, I would be half-way there.
Thanks,
John

try boomslang fabrications... i think boomslang is his s/n. I haven't been on the aem board in couple of weeks, but the original version(s) of the f/ic will not work (properly) on distributor driven hondas. Check the aem forum before you buy or you'll be pissed just like 95% of the current f/ic owners.
Thanks!
I just sent an e-mail to Boomslang.
Talked to AEM earlier today and they assured me that the FIC will work just fine (?) on my ITR.
The Super Secret part number for the Honda FIC is 301911.
Progress being made slowly.
