Default Intake question for Accord owners.

I have a 98 Accord V6 Coupe.

It's completely stock and i'm thinking about getting an intake system.

Question is, if i do install this, will it sound like an exhaust and be very noticeable in everyday driving or is the sound only noticeable when you open it up? I'm thinking about getting a AEM short ram.

I would appreciate the feedback.

Well I got an intake for my 96 Accord 4cyl(CAI) and for the RSX(SRI).

The CAI is very quiet, but when I go higher RPM, it sounds very loud and a nice howl.
The SRI gets louder at a lower RPM than the CAI.

Though all these happen at around 3500+ RPM. So regular shifting is fine. I'm satisfied with my AEM CAI for my 96 Accord. Not loud when I want it to. And produce a nice howl when I want it.

Hope this helps.

you hear a TINY growl coming from the engine..but at idle, chances are you wont hear it.

My SRI seemed very noticable when i first put it in, now you dont even think about it. It just sounds like a part of the car.

You notice it a lot at high RPMs because it is not constricted like the stock box.

No, its NOTHING like exhaust.
If noise is a problem, you have nothing to worry about.

Mine is not a V6 but here is a vid of how a SRI sounds on an I4.

At idle it sounds more like a vacuum cleaner sucking a lot of air. When you give it a good pop it will wake up a bit. Sounds nice when you give it some juice going through an underpass....lol
