Reverse doesn't use a syncro. Try putting it in neutral, let the clutch out, clutch in, then reverse. Does it not want to go into reverse at all?

Ok, this just happened to my 'lude 3 days ago, I know a couple more who had the same prob. If the fluid change doesn't work I have bad news for you which mean you will need to spend some cash.

I'm a mechanic so when i ripped my tranny out to check all the gears, reverse & 5th were pretty much gone. Believe me, they BOTH are gonna need to be replaced even if you 5th gear works fine. The reason is cuz the 5th & reverse gear are connected together to put it simply.

The fix is to just replace those gears and that's it. Put it together and it will be fine. Now the cost will vary depending where you go. Your looking anywhere between $250-$700. Obviously i didn't spend much cuz i did my own labor.

If you have anymore ?'s just let me know ill be happy to help.

I have the same problem i just slowly let out the clutch and it will pop into reverse. I have drained the fluids and all it did was just make it now as hard to get in gear. either way though I still have to let the clutch out slow.
