Turbo Or Supercharge????
This is my first post on this site. I've been a "lurker" for awhile now. My question is I just bought a Civic Hatch CX that I have a LS VTEC ready to install. But I'm looking to either supercharge (Vortech kit) or turbo charge it? I have around 6000 bucks to put into either kit so if it was you which one you go with and why? Thanks again!!

OK sorry. Give a brother a break here. I'm alittle excited and I'm really looking forward to getting this swap in before the end of Summer. Just got ahead of myself

I just want something that's reliable. It will not be a daily driven car either.
if you are after raw power, you need to go turbo. if you are after throttle response, in exchange for less power...go SC
$6000 seems just about enough for a turbo manifold, turbocharger, intercooler, piping, injectors, and management. you will spend the change on dyno time and a wastegate and BOV.
what pistons/ rods do you have in the motor now?

6000 grand will fully build (pistons, rods, sleeves, injectors, ems, and the kit), but now if you want a jackson I will sell you mine it comes with every thing plus intake header and water injection.

What's the price on your Jackson?
Thanks for all your help on this also. My rods & pistons I'm still undecided on. So what do you suggest for these? I will not be spraying either

hahah, the one person who has posted in here with some sense and hes not listening to you! dude you need to know what your ls/vtec consists of first, high compression and forced induction unless your a tuning god = big boom
AGAIN what pistons are you running...... if its high compression, disguard the thought of having turbo.... not sure about SC .... if you have low compression pistons go with the turbo!
I see a kaboom in the near future. If you are interested in a Vortch unit, I`d just get a Drag turbo kit.
Get your ls/vtec straight before you even thing about boost. If it`s not built yet, use you 6k and do it right.

its all what u want. although im not totally sure, a properly sized turbo can create low end torque, high end hp, or something in between. while a sc can only create low end torque only. overall, turbo is the better way. it may cost more but in the end ull have lots bigger hp ratings. ohhh by the way, quick question- how is the reliabilty (sp?) on a Jackson SC. i read on another post somewhere, that they were somewhat unreliable

I know everyone talks about turbo lag but when does it really effect you?
On the track you are always having the engine up above 5000rpm so lag is not a concern at this point.
Just a thought
