Are 205's too wide for GSR blades?
Hey I was just wondering if I would be forcing it to put 205's instead of the normal 195 on GSR Blades?? Would it do more harm than good? I would want to use the 205's to get better handling. Any help or input is appreciated.
wider doesnt always mean better handling, a 205 is only 1 cm wider than a 195. 205 would fit fine with no issues. look for a sticker, grippier tire instead of a wider one.
First things first. You don't mention what kind of car these tires are going on.

What size tires should I get?
<FONT SIZE="4">The proper size depends on your car, not just the wheels you are using.</FONT>
For a CRX, del sol, or pre-'96 Civic, the following sizes are usually best:
13" - 175/70-13
14" - 185/60-14, 195/55-14
15" - 195/50-15
16" - 205/40-16, 195/45-16
For an Integra or '97-00 Civic, the following sizes are usually best:
14" - 185/65-14, 195/60-14
15" - 195/55/15, 205/50-15
16" - 205/45-16, 215/45-16
17" - 205/40/17
</TD></TR></TABLE>
So, if you have a CRX, del sol, or pre-'96 Civic, you should get 195/50-15 tires; if you have an Integra or '97-00 Civic, you should get 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 tires. Any of these sizes can be mounted on GS-R blades, which are 15x6 wheels.
What kind of car do you have (year, model, version)?

sorry about that. I have a 98 Gsr. So is there any benefit to getting 205 instead of 195s? If theres no difference in handling, theres gotta be some benefit to having more tire touch the ground...

Well, first of all, there's no difference in how much tire touches the ground. If your GS-R weighs 2640 pounds, and you inflate your tires to 33 pounds per square inch all around, the amount of tire touching the ground will total 80 square inches, regardless of whether your tires are 225 mm wide steamrollers or skinny 185 mm treadwidth tires.
You can use either 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 on your GS-R. The differences in handling are so small you will never notice them. (Theoretically the cornering on dry pavement will be slightly better with 205/50, and the grip on wet pavement will be slightly better with 195/55.) 195/55 will preserve the accuracy of your speedometer and odometer, which will be off 1.6 percent with 205/50. And either size might be a few bucks cheaper than the other, depending on the size. Either size works. I prefer the 195/55 on my GS-R.
