So my dad walked into this card dealer looking at a 91 accord with a cheap price tag, fortunately they did tell him what was wrong right off the bat, car fires right up runs good but when you turn it off you cant turn it back on until like the next day. when it cools down they claim.

I didnt go with him its just what he told me and asked me if it was serious problem, worth buying the car.
so what do you guys think it could be?

 

click on search on the top right of your screen and type in main relay, its also in the faq, you may be able to solve your problem, if not check for fuel and spark then reply back to us.

 

but the thing is how do i go to a dealer and just start checking a car like that could it be that simple as main relay? I dont want to tell him to get it and end up buying a headache.

 

its a common problem man it posted on here almost ever week, relay is really cheap even a fuel pump if you get one from the junk yard, if its not sparking it can be a number of things. but I would get an extra 2K knocked off the price, and fix it your self man. just go to the accord faq and follow those directions.

 

really? i searched wont turn on when hot and several variations of that and came up with nothing, well im going to tell him to go ahead its an easy fix, the guy is selling it for $900 as is so its not that bad only thing its auto and my dad was hoping to find a manual but its his call at the end of the day

It is the main relay. I had a civic do the exact same thing. the part number is RZ 0034 if im not mistaking

 

If you want to test it, have someone put there ear to the back seat of the car while you start it. If you don't hear a click and a humming sound that means your main relay is out. This means fuel is not getting to the engine. The heat creates bubbles in the fuel lines when its hot, not alowing the fuel to get to the engine.

 

had the same problem in my 90 lx...its was a dead cell in the battery....start up cold but once i shut it off when it was warm it wouldnt start back up until it was cooled down again
