Default B18c CEL 22 help!!

My buddy has a JDM B18C from Hmotors in an EM1 wth the stock harness, and is throwin code 22. We cant figure out what the cause of the problem is. We jumped the VTP plug to see if that would help at all. With it plugged it always throws the code. With it jumped it only throws it at the top of third shifting into fourth. We tried a fifth gear pull and it does not throw the code at all.

We tried replacing the solenoid with one we know works and that did not solve the problem. Any help would be great. TIA

have you seen if there is a break in the wires? inspect the wires from the valve to the ecu. if there is a break in the wires, the ecu cannot see the valve and the cause of the cel.

Actually his post makes the most sense, and it attacks the EASIEST thing to check first.

1. Check the oil level in the engine - low oil level will cause this code, and VTEC will work at random, cut out at random

2. If swapping an ECU and a different VTEC oil pressure switch doesn't correct the issue then one can only assume that it's a wiring issue

a. Make sure that the ground on the oil pressure switch plug is properly grounded at a non painted surface and make sure it's tight

b. Check the wiring and if necessary just run a dedicated wire from the pressure switch to the ECU at pin location D6 - make sure you don't just jam a wire into the ECU. there needs to be a proper pin inserted into D6 and soldier your new wire to the existing pin if necessary.

Okay cool. thanks. His wiring is a little bit hacked so that could be the problem. We'll take a look at the wires and the pinout in the ecu. Thank you again.

ok, so i checked all my wiring, it's fine and it's wired directly into d6

but i also did happen to notice it happens when i let off the throttle in high rpm's in 3rd/4th gear, BUT if i powershift 3 -> 4, it dosent throw the CEL, but the second i let off the throttle it comes on
