Default my dyno numbers wet 75 shot

i have an 06 type-s w/ fujita cai, hondata img, and a wet 75 shot. bottle pressure on the 1st run was around 990psi and the 2nd run 950psi. jettings are 42 nitrous and 24 fuel. 91 octane and 3 gallons of 111 octane. this was on a mustang dyno.

here's the graph for the all motor run, afr was measured with an o2 sniffer on the tailpipe so dont mind the lean spike at 7k rpm.

graph for the nitrous run, crazy vtec dip, i'm running very rich up top

Except some TQ from a 4cyl!

What brand of Nitrous kit and why the use of 111 octane? NM, you needed to bump that 91oct to run full timing I assume.
Your huge TQ gain is from the TQ spike created by the initial burst. As you can see TQ falls fast after the initial hit.
Now go to the track with it! Have fun finding traction though...

its a dynotune kit w/ a zex bottle and dynotune highflow valve, dynotune heater and tps switch. i was getting slight knock w/ 91 octane on the 75 shot so i added some 111 octane.

You can't count a spike as a gain in power.

I see a spike in torque at ~3700rpms when you hit the nawz button. When you drag race (and I assume you do since this is the only thing nawz is good for), that'll get you nowhere as it's only for a brief instance. The torque figure after a few seconds is going to be much more telling--and that looks to be around 195ft/lbs.

No way nawz power can really be read off that initial spike.

Why? Because people here don't swing from people's n*tsack when they post dynos of cars on the bottle, then claim that a brief torque spike = over 100ft/lbs addition?

You'll find that the majority of honda-tech really doesn't use nos nor do they really care for it. No one is hating--they just don't find it that interesting.

Let's be realistic. You definitely got some added power, but you're engine is going to suffer because of it and once the bottle runs dry, that's it.

thanks for the comments and criticism guys. i chose the nitrous route simply because i've never really had any experience with it and wanted to learn more about it. i've already had my fair share of experience on all motor and turbos. nitrous is easy and fun, lots of power to be gained. the only thing i don't like about nitrous is the fact i have to refill the bottle when it runs empty, refillable power, and bottle fills start to get expensive when you use it alot. for the peope who say nitrous is dangerous and will blow up your motors, well of course it's dangerous when used incorrectly. same with a built high compression motor or boosted motor thats untuned using inefficient octane. when used correctly it will be safe. i don't really care when people say that nitrous is cheap or the easy route in getting power or boost is better because in the end they all do the same thing, makes more power. i spent about $670 on my nitrous parts. i remember a few years back making a homemade turbo kit for less. unless there's another reason why you throw $10,000 into a motor build and turbo kit, it doesn't matter. nitrous is just another source for power adding. don't say ht'ers don't run nitrous, that's like saying people hate rota wheels yet more that half of us rock em. and there's plenty of ht'ers with nitrous knowledge. do a quick archive search on nitrous and there's 900+ results. i posted my dyno to show the before and after of nitrous on an rsx, hoping it can be beneficial to someone who was interested in spraying their rsx and would like to get an idea of what kind of power it can give them. all i did was simply laid out some valuable information into this world. . not only did i say my car peaked at 248tq from the torque spike, i posted a graph to show it. and my personal thoughts on nitrous after using it for a month is that it gets old really fast. its fun and all but i think i'm gonna save up for boost lol, nothing feels like boost.

it's not that ht doesn't care about nitrous or finds it interesting, it's because you don't care of it or find it interesting, speak for yourself and not others. and if you can explain how my engine will suffer any different than adding a turbo/supercharger be my guest. 8000+ posts?

haters on ht is nothing new. thanks again for the comments everyone

The only people in this thread that are really interested are your buddies. Otherwise, no one really cares either way.

Look at the nawz threads vs. all-motor vs. boosted. The good all-motor and boosted threads get 10x the traffic, replys and questions.

You're only fast when your bottle is full. And in reality, a car on nitrous is not that fun to drive.

1) You can't use it around corners
2) You can use it on the track or autox
3) You only get brief power boosts, and all of this is in a straight line.
4) Constant expensive bottle refills
5) Whether you want to admit it or not, nitrous is not as easy as you seem to think. Maybe if it was a 50 shot, but you're running 75. It's a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter motor. Do the math.

A good all-motor car--even a bolt-on and tuned car--is a blast to drive. You can come out of corners, merge onto on on-ramp, etc. You can't do any of this while on the bottle.

And on the whole, this forum is a 'tech' forum, and that's going to reflect in people's setups.

whats hard about nitrous? take a stroll down the clubrsx forums and you'll see people spraying nitrous on their supercharged setups. the fact is that a wet 75 shot is probably the safest on a stock rsx motor w/o ems, anything higher is just risky. and that's why i run a 75 shot, and higher octane for obvious reasons. you are right about nitrous only being good on straights because its true, spraying around in auto-x turn will probably end up in extreme understeer or a spin out. but hey this isn't a nitrous is better for street driving thread is it.

Nah, I don't find it interesting at all. To me, your car is just a rsx-s a cai and hondata. No props for your $700-engine-killing-fun-button.

I'm going to have to agree with todd00 and whiteonrice. It's just nitrious is not safe no matter what you do. I will not have nos anywhere near my car unless i have a halo kit (cooling off the intercooler) and that's about it. I don't care what any nitrious company says, nos is not safe. Cheap mans horsepower till the bottle runs out. Why use nitrious when you can have an endless supply of boost.

Speak for yourself.....I have done track Days with Nitrous!

People start hating on nitrous when they realize how cheap it is to have fun after they spent $k's modding their n/A setups.
I think the truth is most people don't have the ***** to use nitrous!

What a load of bs. Nitrous is to cheating in auto racing as steriods are to cheating in professional sports.

The way I see it

Drags:
Built N/A vs Built N/A, fine.
Turbo vs turbo, fine.
Built N/A vs turbo, fine.
Nitrous vs nitrous, fine.
Nitrous vs turbo, cheating.
Nitrous vs Built N/A, cheating.

Nitrous isn't cheating if youre not competing.....
If you want to get all juiced up to school the local basketball court, there's nothing "cheating" about that! Steroids ARE illegal though. If a TRACK tells you that you can't use Nitrous and you use it, its then illegal.
Its all for fun though!
Don't turn this into a Nitrous VS N/A debate......

Really? What group did you run with (NASA, SCCA, etc?). Cause most places won't allow the bottle to remain in the car.

And if you used it, what did you get--2 laps maybe? So basically it was completely pointless.

I was using it at an open track day that my local club had. I guess being an instructor has its perks.
It wasn't about anything but having fun.....I used it at corner exit and down the front straight. I picked up 10mph and it was crazy fun!!!---not to mention I have used it at the drag strip to smack around the local V8 crowd on several occasions.

I bet they didn't care that they lose once they heard you were spraying.
