Does a shorter geared tranny yield more lag or less boost in lower gears?
Ive got a Holset HX35 16cm housing that was on my B0 with the LS tranny. I was pushing about 4-5psi in 1st gear just rolling into it and when i hit 2nd 17psi was there and ready to go, unless i launched on the 2-step then it was tire frying time. So i blew the headgasket on the B20 (and possibly a ringland) and im putting in a full OBD1 B16 swap tranny and all. So with less displacement and a much shorter geared tranny, what kind of boost should i be looking at. I wanna be around 12-15psi. But i just dont even know if im gonna make bost in 1st and 2nd. Any input?

it will make boost fine with the b16 gearing, probably not so much in 1st because its such a short gear.

With a b16 tranny and boost, you should be burning up the tires in first and second. In my car, type r with an 18g at 22lbs of boost, i just kinda roast first and second, and catch traction somewhere in third. You should have no problem with the b16 tranny, no boost lag, just running out of gears quicker.
