Default Skunk2 nightmare, poor exhaust fitting.

i have a skunk2 cat back for my em2. already checked, double checked, and triple checked its the right one. but clearly from these pictures it fits for junk. it doesnt come out from under the bumper far enough. the hangers are not lining up, which is causing massive rattles. ive tried doing different things with the hangers (hence the crooked hnager) to try to get it to stop rattling and get it off my bumper. but it rubs on my damn progress bar. its giving me a headache and id like some advice of things i could do. i know for sure it need another 3 inches or so of extention, but im not sure when i could have it added in. please help with opinoins!! AJ

fix that rust before it gets worse!

take it to an exhaust shop, have them work on it, maybe they just need to bend the hanger or make it longer, or something...

How would you propose he do that? Trim off the metal hangers on the muffler itself, then re-weld them on?

PS. Those rubber hanger dampers are identical.

And, to the commentary about the rust: living in Wisconsin sucks for cars. End of story.

Bud, I've been all across this country (actually, this is quite true), and I know how bad it can get in CT. Your state just doesn't use the same amount of salt to keep ice off the roads. And, that's why our cars always have bigger rust problems.

Those rubber hangers, by the way, are not differently numbered, and are identical in size/shape/compound. I have no idea what makes you think they're different.

Whoever modified your exhaust, before you bought the car, is the idiot. They must have switched the front rubber hanger with one of the rears. That would explain the awkward hanging problem you had.

And, welcome to the crappy winters team.

Well, perhaps some jerk at the manufacturer or the dealership swapped them for a laugh. No need to get all offended by what I've posted, I'm not trying to insult you.

When I start seeing a reason to. No sense putting on the snow tires, when the streets are snow-free.

exhaust hangers are very easy to bend. my hks exhaust didnt fit quite right and it rattled on the underside of my trunk so i took it off, bent one hanger and now it fits perfect. all it takes to bend a hanger is some muscle. or if you have access to a torch you can heat it up and bend it without muscle

but if you bend your hanger then its bent because bending mettle back and forth is not great for it. and if u ever wanna sell the car etc and put the stock exhaust back on u will have to bend it back. just something to thing about

Or if you all had bought the Tanabe Medallion concept G exhaust you wouldn't be in this situation would you? It looks cooler as well

Kidding aside you might want to look at those rubber hangers the one on the passenger side looks all jacked up. Take them both off, compare side to side and make sure they are the same. If so bend the metal hangers on the muffler so that it fits. No need to cut and weld and all that hard stuff.

Worst comes to worst just duck tape and super glue that sucker into place... Trust me it will work fine.
