Well heres the problem...My brother has a 2k accord V6 less then 100k on it and today he was at an appointment and wentto start the car and it would spin then die then same thing again. Then he got it started and it was idling really really low , barely even on. He gave it some gas and it stalled. We had the car taken to the dealer and and they could not duplicate the problem. I can't remember if the V6 accords has the same kind of iacv and things like the 4 cyl bretheren or what. My thought was IACV but we are kind of stumped. Is there any way to check since the car wasn't throwing any codes at the dealer.

bump! because my 99 v6 does the same thing...I tend to notice it more when the engine is up to temp and I stop somewhere, turn off the engine and then try to start it again.

 

Im a tech at a chevy dealership. Our scan tool has a function to test IAC. I'm sure a honda tech could do the same. They also make IAC testers you could get from a tool dealer

 

might be the EGR causing the idle issue

 

My 2000 Accord V6 is having the same problem. I just recently had it at the local Honda dealership to have the EGR valve replaced and the EGR ports in the intake cleaned (there was actually a warranty extension for this on 2000 Accord V6's due to frequency of EGR intake port clogging issues). Anyway, I would tend toward the IACV as the culprit. The internal diagnostics for the IACV are not very sensitive at all, so things have to get pretty bad before and engine light will be triggered due the the IACV. I would recommend removing the IACV and cleaning it. That's what I'll be doing this weekend!

Any other ideas out there??

 

Hey pumafeet10......I removed my IACV and cleaned it with CRC throttle body cleaner last weekend. While I was in there, I went ahead and cleaned the throttle body also. I've been trouble free ever since. I think cleaning out the IACV will solve your problem too.
