from what i understand it's impossible to do this now. You have to plug in and have your results sent to the state gvt. No way around that. At least that's how it is in NY

You can convert your car to propane or something like that temporarily, take your car down, and get it exempt from smog for forever... then convert it back to gasoline and never worry about smog again.
