Default head removal

well, i swapped a b16 a couple months ago and have decided now to go ls/vtec. Therefore i want to get some head work done to the b16 head (p&p, 3 angle valve job, new retainers). My question is what is the proper head removal procedures. After unplugging everything and removing valve cover and head bolts, how do i ensure that the head goes back on correctly, as to not damage my valves?
