Default Ls trans vs. gsr noob help

Greetings all. I have only two posts and yes I searched without resolve so please keep flaming to minimum thnks.

I have been reading everything I can find about the ls/vtec build and I now have down the engine part of it as far as what Im going to do and what I need ect, ect. However I couldn't find a whole lot of info about whether or not I should do a gsr trans or the LS. The reason I ask is becuase I can get the LS for 75.00Usd from a local junk yard in good condition, and well GSR's are a little more difficult to find for cheap, so Im guessing the gsr might be better for my setup but I havent had a chance to get my hands on either and take it apart to see how each is built. I am mating a b16 pr3 head with a b18A1 bottom and plan on building the bottom half, getting the crank balanced and shotpeened, forged pistons and so on. it will be going in a 91 civic HB.

I know alot of you have had a ton of experience with both so just wanted some input, can I build the LS?, just get the GSR?? that kind of stuff. Thanks again in advance

it depends what you're looking for out of your setup but honestly , i wouldnt use a ls tranny on any b-series vtec motor . if you want acceleration , definately get the b16 tranny . they cost about the same as a gsr tranny . i ' ve owned all three trannys before .. lol and honestly , even the b16a tranny is a little too long ..
