99 Integra LS auto won't go in revearse
Hey, so I searched for a reason why, but a friend I work with has an automatic 1999 Integra LS and it won't go into reverse. Has anyone had this problem, or know what the cause could be, or how to fix it?
Edit: Sorry I spelled reverse wrong in the title.

The car does go into reverse, it just won't back up. All the other gears are fine, but in reverse it is like the parking brake is on. It backs up an inch or two, but then it won't move. Also it doesn't grind or make any noise.
Do the RPM's still climb?
Are all the other gears fine?
No to be an ***, but make sure that she is doing everything right....sometimes reverse does not line up with the "R" by the shifter. It might actually be close to "P"

Yeah, RPM's climb, no problem driving from start to freeway+ speeds and it lines up with reverse. It acts like it wants to back up, but it feels like the e-brake is engaged.

well, i guess check the ebrake cables and make sure they aren't sticking or wrongly engaging. otherwise, his transmission probably took a crap and it's time for him to get a real integra with a manual transmission.
seriously, though, you could find an automatic transmission for an integra for chump change these days.

Thank you for the advise, she got it fixed. Guess what it was......so she changed out the front calipers herself and somehow had a loose bolt that would catch when she put it in reverse. I didn't talk to the shop, but they charged her $50. LOL!!
