Default Air Conditioning system weight.

I pulled ALL of the A/C lines/wires/fans etc. out of my 1991 Wagon, and the total weight of everything was 15.5 lbs. It took about 2 hours total to remove everything, and this was my first time removing an A/C system. This is also the first step towards my wire tuck, of which Ill post about later.

Did you remove the core out of the underdash HVAC box? Does that include the condenser behind the bumper?

yea 15 pounds sounds a little light. The compressor and condensor underneath the dash combined weight should be over 15 lbs atleast. Them suckers are heavy. If I remember correctly, removing all A/C parts, I think the weight around 40 lbs. Someone did this in the past, and weighed everything in a detailed write-up. Forgot if it was on HT, or another site.

That used to be mine.

Yup, I got 53 lbs from parts, around 60 with packaging. The evap. core and compressor comprise at least 35 lbs of that. Perhaps the OP is referring to just the lines, condensor, drier and fan?

On the sedan you just bought? I see an A/C line in one of your pictures, so maybe he didn't yank it. Look for the compressor on the driver's side near the radiator and the condensor in front of the radiator (looks like a smaller radiator), plus the A/C fan on the driver's side. Chances are he just told you it was removed so you wouldn't expect it to work.

If you swap in the HVAC unit/central part from a non-AC car, no you won't lose heat, etc. You can probably gut it, but I'm not really sure on that.

I had weighed my A/C stuff awhile ago but don't remember the exact figure; but it was around 40-50lbs(from a CRX DX).

Ya I pulled my AC out of my wagon. Everything except the evap (the HVAC part) was pulled. Weighed about 45-48lbs. The cheapest weight reduction by far. I'm going to rip the hvac apart to pull the evap out and get even more weight out.

Mine was 45lbs on my scale. I wish I knew you were looking for one, its all boxed up in my garage now, except I havent removed the AC button from my climate control yet.

I am actually starting to think I might keep my AC in and recharge / fix what is broken if anything next summer or remove if it starts getting expensive.
